I noticed that the brake lights on my car did not light.
At first I wanted to ask a friend of the dealer. But I decided to try it. It was very easy when I tried. I will show you how to change the brake lamp.
By the way, it is the HONDA Step Wagon RG1.
What you need to exchange
light bulb
Is a light bulb that "double" called T20. It can be purchased around 500 yen at home improvement stores.
tool
- 8mm Socket wrench or a large Phillips screwdriver
Screws may be rusted. If you use an 8mm socket wrench, you can remove the screws well. You can buy a socket wrench for about 100 yen.
- Minus driver
Use this to open the lid of the screw.
Removal of the lamp
First, open the hatch. Next, look for the round lid next to the brake lights. The screw is hidden under this lid. I inserted a minus driver into the gap between the lid and removed the lid.
Screws are hidden, and It is rusty because it is not open about 15 years.
Remove the screws with a 8mm socket wrench or a Phillips screwdriver.
Pull the entire lamp box back. You need a little force to pull out Because it is fixed with a claw shaped like a connector.
However, please do not pull out with full power. The cable is connected to the lamp and there is a risk of disconnection. Please carefully pulled out. It is good to stop the force every time you pull out 1cm.
Replacing the light bulb
On the back of the lamp unit, socket of the brake lamp (top) and turn signal (below) is visible. The upper brake light socket will come out of the socket when turned 45 degrees counterclockwise.
Pull out the light bulb from the socket, and insert the new light bulb. There is no polarity. This exchange is complete.
A broken light bulb is black.
Undo
Please reverse the procedure.Insert the socket to the lamp unit, rotate 45 degrees clockwise. There is a firmly fixed feel.
After tightening the screws, close the lid.
This repair is complete.
Exchange the other one
The fact that the light on the right is no longer lit means that the light on the left may soon be off.
Remove the screws with a 8mm socket wrench or a Phillips screwdriver.Pull the entire lamp box back. Please carefully pulled out.
The upper brake light socket will come out of the socket when turned 45 degrees counterclockwise.
Pull out the old bulb and insert the new one. There is no polarity.
Replace the lamp unit by inserting the lamp unit, tightening the screws, and closing the lid.
Operation check
Both of the brake lamp is now shining. Replacement of brake lamps, was very easy for me.
